Reviews and Ratings
I had a lovely stay at the Westgate. The rooms were ready exactly on time, and they were beautifully designed with smart bed linen and a modern touch. The location is fantastic, offering a view over the West Gate and being close to restaurants and Winchester town center. The service was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcome throughout my stay. I enjoyed the dining experience with its great selection of cooked items and a delicious vegetarian option. The facilities were well-maintained and added to my overall comfort. It's definitely a place I would recommend for a peaceful getaway.
The hotel's location is fantastic, close to the center of Winchester and within an easy walk from the museum and cathedral. The rooms are a bit old with a strange odor, and the steep, narrow stairs make access difficult especially with luggage. The service was mixed, with some staff showing good knowledge and being polite, but others appeared disinterested. Dining offered lots of choices and freshly cooked options, but there was some confusion about charges initially.
The hotel was ideally located across from the Medieval West Gate of Winchester, offering a trendy yet comfortable ambiance. It was a short walk to the heart of the city with numerous shops and restaurants, but difficult to reach someone directly at the venue. The rooms were very clean and well-presented, although those at the front facing the road were noisy at night without double glazing. The service was attentive and informative, yet not very welcoming, with a limited menu selection. While the dining experience was good overall, the hash brown portion seemed lacking. The hotel boasted a superb location rating, but the communication accessibility was a downside.
I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms were a bit dusty with stains on the carpets, but at least they were clean and tidy. However, the room was too hot, making it hard to sleep or even breathe properly. The staff was really friendly and helpful, although they couldn't provide a spare key when we needed one. The location was great, close to the city center, surrounded by shops and restaurants. The dining experience was good overall, but it was ruined by poor service. The facilities were decent, with some room for improvement.
The hotel offers lovely views of the town and a very clean bathroom in the rooms. While the amenities were only catered for two people, such as cups, I didn't see a lift which may not be ideal for those with difficulties climbing stairs. Overall, the rooms were comfortable, spacious, and clean with a superb view over the West Gate.
Staying at this hotel was a delightful experience. The rooms, located up two flights of very narrow steep stairs, were cool, very clean, and warm, offering a good view of the high street from the top of the building. The service, from the manager, was extremely friendly, polite, and efficient, making me feel welcomed throughout my stay. The location is unbeatable, being at the west end of the city center and close to major attractions, such as the shops, Cathedral, and train station. The dining experience, with live music and a good breakfast selection, was exceptional, although a bit slow at times.
